Trust by Trip Fuse (words and music by Teague) Verse 1 Chorus Verse 2 Chorus Notes ................................................................................. The orginal idea for Trust came about shortly after buying a Line 6 Flextone II. The amp had delay effects built in and I began messin with them. I set it to sound like the one Eddie Van Halen used in Cathedral. Also happens to be the one David Gilmore uses in Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall. So while learning Cathedral the chorus riff for Trust was born. That was probably 2000 sometime. Sometimes at Moonlight Drive sound checks I would play the riff which would later become Trust. When the cd began in July 2002 I laid 26 seperate song ideas down within 2 weeks. When the ideas for Trust were put down the intro was born, the melody for the chorus and the "cannot trust you" line, the heavy section and the bass line for the chorus. Kinda the drum beat. The drum parts went through a lot of changes from those intial ideas and the finished product (as was the case with most of the songs). The whole tune wouldn't come together until mid 2003. The heavy power chords in the chorus were a last minute addition. For the longest time there was a clean funk guitar rhythm giving the chorus a very different feel. The lyrics came part from the orginal "cannot trust you" line and the creepy kind of dark intro. It was written mostly about my first girlfriend. And yes I know the last section has that Linkin Park thing going on. I had just got the Meteora album and was diggin it. It's not that I ripped off any riffs or music from them. Just kinda the vibe or feel. The single guitar line...pause on harmonic...scratch with band. Scratches on Trust are done with my guitar. Scraping the pick and using a wah wah pedal. |
